As many of you know, we arrived back in the States this weekend and had a lot to wrap up before making it home. Thank you for your patience as we process all that God has done!
A Week Overflowing with God’s Goodness
Where do we even begin? This trip was filled with so many God moments that we could fill an entire book! Each day brought new experiences, deeper connections, and powerful testimonies of how God is at work in Mexico and in the hearts of our students.
Bonds That Transcend Borders
One of the most beautiful aspects of this trip was the blossoming bond between the women in our group and the women of the church. What started as simple conversations grew into a deep sisterhood in Christ. On our final day, we watched as they exchanged gifts, shed tears, and embraced—a testament to the deep relationships formed through shared faith.
“Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.” (1 Thessalonians 5:11)
Students Stepping into Their Calling
One of the greatest joys of this trip was witnessing our students come alive in their faith. Many stepped out of their comfort zones to serve, share their testimonies, pray, and evangelize. They discovered new ways God uses His people for His glory, and their passion for ministry was evident.
“As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace.” (1 Peter 4:10)
Building for the Future
Our build team worked tirelessly alongside church volunteers, laboring to meet the material needs of the church. They:
– Laid the foundation for the new floor
– Began work on the altar
– Dug deep for the future sewage system
They worked so efficiently that we even had to get creative with our time and efforts—a good problem to have! Their work will leave a lasting impact on the church for years to come.
“Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain.” (Psalm 127:1)
The Power of the Gospel
Our evangelism team wasted no time sharing the love of Christ with the community. By the end of the week, 20 people from neighboring homes had decided to follow Jesus!
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” (Matthew 28:19)
Lives were changed, not only in the people we served but also in our own hearts. Seeing salvation take root in the lives of these individuals reminded us that the Gospel is alive and powerful!
A Night of Worship & Gratitude
On Thursday, our final day with the church, we gathered after VBS to praise God for all He had done. It was a time of:
– Worship and thanksgiving
– A special offering to Pastor Jose Reyes, who took time off work to serve alongside us all week
-Prayer and blessings over the church, our team, and the work that will continue
Pastor Jose shared a list of names of those who had made decisions to follow Christ—people the church will now pray for, disciple, and follow up with. What a joy to know that this is just the beginning of their faith journey!
“He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 1:6)
Until Next Time…
When the time came for goodbyes, there were hugs, tears, and prayers—but we know this is not the end.
We are already planning to return next year to serve with Rey de Reyes El Shaddai and Pastor Jose Reyes once again. We cannot wait to see all that God will continue to do in this church and community over the next year!
Thank you, Sunrise family, for your prayers, support, and encouragement. This mission is yours as much as it is ours.
Dios los bendiga y nos vemos el año que viene! (God bless you, and we will see you next year!)
