Sometimes the opportunities to neighbor are right in front of us…

This past week, my neighbor Rachel mentioned the idea of hosting a 4th of July Block Party. What a great idea! I just wanted to know how I could get behind it and help increase connection in our neighborhood. Here is what we came up with:

We will provide an inviting atmosphere:

1. Distribute invitations to 40+ neighbors (see below)
2. Offer up our front yards
3. Provide grills
4. Provide ice and drinks
5. Provide music (and probably some shade)

Others will provide the food and entertainment:

1. Bring their own meat
2. Bring a side to share
3. Bring their favorite fireworks

I’m excited to see how it all turns out, who else contributes to the event (It’s not about doing it for people but doing it WITH people), and who we get to know better through it.
